RICE DUMPLING RECIPE


[PART 1: PREPARING THE INGREDIENTS]

  1. Wash and rinse glutinous rice, soak them in water for 2 hours
  2. Cook pork belly in boiling water for 20 – 30 minutes, then chop them up into smaller pieces. Marinate the pork in five spice powder, salt and pepper
  3. Wash the rest of the ingredients (chestnut, dried shrimps and dried mushrooms) and soak them in water
  4. Bamboo leaves and bamboo string needs to be cleaned by placing in boiling water for 15 minutes


[PART 2: STIR FRY THE INGREDIENTS]

  1. Add cooking oil to a pre heated wok and stir fry minced garlic until fragrant
  2. Add marinated pork to the wok and stir fry until the meat is cooked through. Remove meat form the heat, set aside, and let it cool
  3. Repeat step 5 and cook the glutinous rice, chestnut, dried shrimps and mushroom separately. When stir frying each ingredient, season with five spice powder, salt and pepper. Once ingredients are cooked, remove from heat, set aside, and let it cool before wrapping


[PART 3: WRAPPING RICE DUMPLING]

  1. Depending on the size of the leaves, take 1 or 2 bamboo leaves, with the smooth side facing you
  2. Fold the leaves in the middle to form a cone shape
  3. Fill it up with 2 tbsp of glutinous rice, then use the back of the spoon to pack it in and form a small well in the middle
  4. Add the rest of the fillings, you can be as generous as you like
  5. Top it up with more rice to cover up the fillings and use the back of the spoon to pack it in
  6. Fold the bamboo leaf over the top and fold the sides cover to form a triangular shape
  7. Tie the rice dumpling in the middle with a bamboo string to secure the leaves. You may need a few more practice to get this right
  8. Cook the rice dumplings in boiling water for 2 – 3 hours
  9. Once they are cooked, they are ready to be eaten. You can freeze the rice dumplings in the freezer and kept them for up to a month

  3. 将2汤匙糯米装满,然后用勺子的背面将糯米压紧并在中间形成一个小孔
  4. 添加其余的馅料,您可以加入您喜爱的成分
  5. 再添加糯米,以掩盖馅料,然后用勺子的背面将馅料压紧竹叶内
  6. 将竹叶折叠到顶部,然后将侧盖折叠成三角形
  7. 用竹线绳将粽子的竹叶绑紧
  8. 将粽子放入滚水,煮上2-3小时
  9. 煮熟后即可食用。您也可以把粽子放入在冰箱中冷冻,并保存一个月
